Thanks to the SGC players for a great time here in Taichung.

Please scroll down for the more details on the format and rules of the tournament

Peter Armitage of SGC and Rob Sharpe of TIGS will be the rule committee.

In order to play you must:

1. Be a member

2. Be able to play both days

3. Register first: Once registered....TIGS will then choose the players by:

         a) How many players the opposing team has registered

         b) If you have played in previous CSC events

         c) Your handicap: being a team event it will be your captain that chooses the players

It is our hope that all members can play but it will always depend on the number of golfers from the opposing team.

Format and Rules

Day One:  Friday 16 April 2010 at Taichung International Country Club

10:00am tee off

2 Man Scramble

·         Please make sure that the caddies understand not to pick up either ball until you say so. This will be addressed before each game.

·         Both tee off. Ladies from red tees and men from white tees

·         Decide what ball you will then next hit, & DO NOT pick up either ball until you both decide, mark with a tee within 12 inches of original ball.

·         You may pick up your ball only if you are on the fairway, clean and replace. You may also move the ball out of a repaired divot.

·         If in the rough (from your chosen drive) the second player can drop the ball within one club length, do not place the ball. The ball must land within the one club length, if it rolls outside of it you must re-drop. After three attempts you can then place the ball within the club length. The player that hit the ball into the rough has to play it where it lies.

·         If the chosen ball is in a Bunker the second player can place the ball, but get no relief from placement. The original ball must first be played from where it lies.

·         Continue until you reach the green.

·         Once you have chosen the ball you will putt, mark such that the second putt can be taken from the same spot as the first. Do not stand directly behind or in front of your partner’s line of putt. You may however discuss before or after the first putt what line to take.

·         If you do not hole out on the first put mark your ball and allow your team player to take their shot. DO NOT PUTT OUT as this will count as your final score and your second team player will not get a putt.

·         Each team player must take 3 drives on the front and back 9 holes.

·         Par three’s count as a drive.

·         Scramble Handicaps - Both players’ handicaps are added together and divided by four this is then the team handicap. You will then give or take the handicap from the other team (-) 80%  and one team will play off zero. Example team A has a combined handicap of forty the team handicap would be 10. Team B has a combined handicap of 50 their team handicap would be 12.5 Differential = 2.5 * 80% = 2 The difference between team A and B is 2, so team A will play off 0 and team B will have one stroke on hole index 1 & 2.

·         There will be a maximum of 18 hcp strokes differential allowed.

Day Two:  Saturday 17 April 2010 at Nan Fong Golf Club

11:00am tee off

Singles Match Play

·         The round will be played over 18 holes, Singles Match Play (play will be in four ball flights with two concurrent singles matches taking place in each flight).

·         The playing order for the singles matches round will  be drawn by each captain handing match referee sealed envelope with their order of play the previous evening.

·         In the Singles matches, player A handicap 7 – player B handicap 15 = handicap differential 8 x 80% = 6 to be given by player A to player B on the lowest 6 stroke index holes on the 18 holes being played. There will be a maximum of handicap differential of 18 allowed.

Additional Points:

View finders, distance measuring devices including GPS will be allowed during the tournament.

For speeding up play, we suggest conceding a hole if you cannot win.

Please consider other groups around you when feeling the urge to shout or cheer!
